amazing volunteers

As part of our volunteering team, there are many opportunities for you to progress and develop your skills. From supporting staff in our community groups, to visiting families’ homes sharing our lovely Story Explorer sessions, or dressing up as a pixie to be part of our wonderful Troll Story Trail in Birkenhead Park!

FYT Volunteers make a valuable and unique contribution to our work in many different ways. We offer full training with ongoing support, as we strive to ensure that our fantastic volunteers always feel valued and appreciated.

Possible Roles

Digital Ambassador:

Digital Ambassadors are key in helping us reach families in the local and wider community. By sharing our messages and using their own social media platforms, they help to signpost and introduce relevant services and of course promote the home learning environment.

Ambassadors like, recommend and comment on our posts and also suggest local groups families can attend. Full training is given for this role and the great thing is, you can fit this in during your everyday activities.

Group volunteer:

Our wonderful group volunteers support staff to deliver Early Explorer groups in the community. They build positive relationships with families and share important home learning messages. No group is the same and each session brings new and exciting opportunities for volunteers to learn and grow.

If you have a relaxed, non-judgmental attitude, can listen and contribute in a positive way and also love working with parents and young children, this is the ideal role for you!

Volunteer Story Explorers

Story Explorer Volunteer:

We have developed this wonderful programme with volunteers at the very heart. Story Explorers is centred around the sharing of books and stories with families and their little ones from a young age in the comfort of their own home.

Full training is given and our volunteers use their expertise to bring all the fun of a baby group right to the family’s home. We aim to develop a love of shared reading and support children’s early literacy. If you have a passion for story telling or just a love of books and their importance for children, then this is the role for you!

Events Volunteer:

We run local events for our families throughout the year and sometimes need a little help on the day to make sure things run smoothly. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the team, dressing up if you want to, giving out goody bags, helping run prize draws or a ‘name the elephant’ stall, or just pointing families in the right direction.

For more information on any of these roles, email Jemma on jhardy@foundationyearstrust.org.uk

Parent involvement

We have some new exciting opportunities for parents to be part of our co-production journey by joining our family forums. These groups will bring together the voices of parents with young children in Wirral and provide us with a platform to bring their visions to life.

If you have a child under the age of five and want to get involved in new projects that can help support your local community please get in touch.
