The founder of our charity and former Birkenhead MP, Frank Field has been included in the Queen's New Years Honours list.

Lord Field wrote a seminal report in 2010 into the cycle of child poverty, ‘The Foundation Years: preventing poor children becoming poor adults, The report of the Independent Review on Poverty and Life Chances’ and further established our charity The Foundation Years Trust.

He also served as a Member of Parliament for Birkenhead for 40 years and been instrumental in a wide range of campaigns to improve the lives of many. Consequently, he has been awarded the Companions of Honour, for his lifetime of public service.

The Order of the Companions of Honour is an honour given to people in the Commonwealth realms who have made a significant contribution to the arts, science, medicine or the government over a long period of time.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Frank and to thank him for his work in establishing FYT so that families in Wirral can better support their child’s learning and development.
